Edwardian Summer Ready-to-Wear Borrowing glamour from the 1900s

Do you remember Nicole Kidman’s costumes in the movie "Far and away"? I had them in mind when selecting these 7 looks from the Spring Summer 2017 collections. It’s know as the Edwardian style with its bow tie, frilled collar and bouffant sleeves. Each designer had his own different version, from the ingénue look of Reem Acra to the punkette in lingerie of Marc Jacobs...

Reem Acra’s long tulle dresses impress with their delicate transparencies. The little black bow tie on a lace high-neck and cascading collars give structure to the design. Applying the Edwardian style to the underwear trend, Marc Jacobs creates mini-dresses looking like négligés. Anna Sui replaces the bow with a brooch in the shape of a heart. Her short dresses have intricate detailing of lace, ribbons and patterns. Rouba G.’s long dress is in natural romantic colors: beige lace sleeves and translucent cane sugary tulle are sexed-up by a leather bandage on the chest.
